Gus Tinucci, the caterer who infamously endured an insulting rant from now ex-Vikings receiver Randy Moss, is striking back with an offer no Vikings fan can refuse: a free buffet and a chance to dispose of their Randy Moss Vikings gear.
Tinucci, the owner of the appropriately named Tinucci’s Restaurant in Newport, MN, could have reacted a number of ways to the Moss incident. He chose to take advantage of the situation and give to others, something in stark contrast to what he had to deal with just a week ago.
According to Paul Walsh at the Minneapolis Star Tribune:
Tinucci’s restaurant is offering a free lunch — yes, there is such a thing, after all — to the first 50 patrons on Friday who bring with them and donate their Randy Moss gear. The items will be shipped to the Boys & Girls Club in the town where Moss lands next.
The buffet will feature ribs and beef, and will feature “other items that were served during Moss’s outburst.” Take that, punk!
Tinucci deserves to be applauded for his good humor, as he could have easily played the boo-hoo card to try and get some sympathetic media attention. And he has already been vindicated by the fact that the rest of the team found the Moss meal to be beyond adequate for both human and canine consumption.
Throw in the generous donation to the Boys & Girls Club, and the fact that Vikings fans have a constructive alternative to a LeBron-esque memorabilia bonfire, and Tinucci has the last laugh in this encounter.
Besides – the difference between Tinucci and Moss is that Gus is still welcome in the Viking’s locker room. Well played, sir.
